1. Ravana Effigy

The most popular Dussehra drawing.
Step 1: Draw a tall rectangle for the body and a smaller one on top for the head.
Step 2: Add small heads beside the main one — four on the left and five on the right — so there are ten in all.
Step 3: Draw a crown on every head and a big moustache on each face.
Step 4: Add arms holding a sword and a shield.
Step 5: Colour the clothes red and yellow, the crowns gold, and add orange flames at the feet for the Ravan Dahan.
2. Rama With Bow and Arrow

Step 1: Draw a simple standing figure with one leg forward.
Step 2: Draw a big curve in front for the bow and a straight line for the string.
Step 3: Add an arrow resting on the string, with the arm pulling it back.
Step 4: Add a crown, a yellow dhoti and a quiver of arrows on the back.
Step 5: Colour Rama’s skin blue — that’s how he is traditionally shown.
3. Ravan Dahan Scene

Step 1: Draw a large Ravana effigy in the middle of the page.
Step 2: Draw a crowd of small heads at the bottom, facing the effigy.
Step 3: Add flames at the effigy’s feet and fireworks bursting in the sky.
Step 4: Colour the sky dark blue or black so the fire and fireworks stand out.
4. Bow and Arrow (Easiest)

Perfect for small children. Draw a big “D” shape for the bow, a straight line for the string, and a long arrow across. Colour the bow brown or gold and the arrow tip red. Write “Happy Dussehra” underneath.
5. Diya and Victory Flag

Draw a diya at the bottom — a half-circle with a teardrop flame. Draw a tall pole behind it with a saffron flag. Add small stars and write “Satyameva Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs).
6. Goddess Durga Face

Step 1: Draw an oval face.
Step 2: Add large almond-shaped eyes, a red bindi and a nose ring.
Step 3: Draw a tall crown and long black hair on both sides.
Step 4: Colour the crown gold, the face light yellow and the saree red.
7. Dussehra Greeting Card

Fold an A4 sheet in half. On the front, draw a small bow and arrow and a marigold border. Inside, write a wish from our Happy Dussehra wishes and sign your name.
Tips to Win a Drawing Competition

Fill the page. Big drawings look confident.
Use bold colours — red, orange, yellow and gold for Dussehra.
Outline in black at the end so everything stands out.
Tell a story. A Ravan Dahan with a crowd and fireworks says more than one figure alone.
Add a title like “Victory of Good Over Evil”.

“Happy Dussehra”, “Victory of Good Over Evil”, or “Satyameva Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs).
Why is Rama drawn with blue skin?
